Grid generation
FINEL2D uses unstructured triangular grids. The size and shape of the triangles may vary within the model area, allowing flexible schematisations. Characteristic features of a specific region, like tidal channels and flats, the geometry of harbour moles and basins and the configuration of the shore line can easily be incorporated in the model. In the area of interest smaller element sizes can be applied. Hence, complicated nesting techniques are not required in this approach.
Some grid generation examples can be found in the right hand panel.
