Sediment transport - FINEL2D animations
Silt dispersion North Sea
This animation shows the dispersion of silt during the burial operations of a cable in the North Sea bed. The burial operation consist of two phases: first the pre-sweeping of sandwaves and second the trenching of the cable. The installation is executed from east to west. During flood the silt is transported to the north and during ebb to the south. High concentrations of silt can have a negative impact on the ecology. Red represents a high concentration of silt and blue a low concentration of silt.
