FINEL3D animations

3D flow at the entrance of the Western Scheldt, the Netherlands.

The animation shows the surface flow in part of the Western Scheldt, from Vlissingen to a little east of Terneuzen. The flow is computed with the numerical model FINEL3D. Besides the surface flow, the animation shows the water level rise and fall, and drying of the flats.

The grid used for the calculation is shown in the lower figure. In the future, the grid will be further refined in both horizontal and vertical direction around the Braakmanhaven, a harbour close to Terneuzen, in order to model the 3D flow and investigate the siltation in this harbour.
